One of the first questions every jewellery buyer asks is: which gold purity should I choose? At Gold Palace, Nellore, we believe an informed choice is a confident one. Here is a simple, honest guide.
What does “karat” mean?
Karat (KT) measures how much pure gold is in an alloy, out of 24 parts. Pure gold (24K) is too soft to hold intricate designs or stones, so it is mixed with other metals for strength and colour.
- 22K (91.6% gold) — rich yellow colour, the traditional choice for Indian gold jewellery, bangles, chains and haarams. Ideal where the gold itself is the star.
- 18K (75% gold) — more durable and better for holding diamonds and gemstones securely. Preferred for rings, pendants and diamond jewellery. Available in yellow, white and rose gold.
- 14K (58.5% gold) — the most hard-wearing and budget-friendly, good for everyday and contemporary pieces.
Which should you buy?
Choose 22K for traditional gold jewellery and value retention; 18K for diamond and gemstone-set designs where durability matters; 14K for daily, low-maintenance wear. Every piece at Gold Palace is BIS-hallmarked, so the purity you pay for is the purity you get.
A note on value
Higher karat means more pure gold, so 22K holds more resale value per gram than 18K. With our transparent pricing and lifetime buyback, you always know exactly what your gold is worth. Explore our collections or visit our Nellore showroom for guidance.
